Certification Maintenance Requirements

Professional development points are obtained from activities that relate to the core areas of the APICS Body of Knowledge. We recognize that individuals are at various levels in their careers and provide multiple sources and a variety of professional development activities for maintaining APICS credentials.

Read the APICS Maintenance Handbook to ensure you are familiar with maintenance program policies and procedures prior to submitting your maintenance application.  The handbook will help you determine which category your activities fall under and the number of points you can claim.  A quick overview of maintenance requirements by certification is below.

An online certification verification tool is available to provide prospective employers and other stakeholders with a simple, easy way to verify an individual’s certification status. Candidates who require verification of their own credentials for personal use can view a detailed report through My APICS.

CPIM

• Must earn a total of 75 professional development points every five years
• If you do not maintain your certification within five years, your certification will be placed in suspended status. You will be unable to refer to yourself as a CPIM until your certification is placed back in good standing
• With each additional year your certification is suspended, you are required to submit 15 additional professional development points to reinstate your certification
• If you do not maintain certification within five years of suspension, your certification will expire, and you will be required to retake your exams. You will be unable to refer to yourself as a CPIM until your certification is placed back in good standing

CFPIM

• Must earn a total of 100 professional development points every five years
• If you do not maintain your certification within five years, your certification will be placed in suspended status. You will be unable to refer to yourself as a CFPIM until your certification is placed back in good standing
• If you do not maintain certification within five years of suspension, your certification will expire, and you will be required to reapply. You will be unable to refer to yourself as a CFPIM until your certification is placed back in good standing

CSCP

• Must earn a total of 75 professional development points every five years
• If you do not maintain your certification within five years, your certification will be placed in suspended status. You will be unable to refer to yourself as a CSCP until your certification is placed back in good standing
• With each additional year your certification is suspended, you are required to submit 15 additional professional development points to reinstate your certification
• If you do not maintain certification within five years of suspension, your certification will expire, and you will be required to retake your exam. You will be unable to refer to yourself as a CSCP until your certification is placed back in good standing

CLTD

• Must earn a total of 75 professional development points every five years
• If you do not maintain your certification within five years, your certification will be placed in suspended status. You will be unable to refer to yourself as a CLTD until your certification is placed back in good standing
• With each additional year your certification is suspended, you are required to submit 15 additional professional development points to reinstate your certification
• If you do not maintain certification within five years of suspension, your certification will expire, and you will be required to retake your exam. You will be unable to refer to yourself as a CLTD until your certification is placed back in good standing

CTL

Maintenance is no longer required. The CTL Certification has been discontinued. All current and new CTL certifications earned prior to January 1, 2016 have been converted to lifetime and no longer expire.

PLS

Maintenance is no longer required. The PLS Certification has been discontinued. All current and new PLS certifications earned prior to January 1, 2016 have been converted to lifetime and no longer expire.
