APICS 2018 Frequently Asked Questions


Why am I not being offered discounted pricing?

A: Only APICS members can take advantage of member pricing. To receive the member discount, please become an APICS member before registering.

Can I apply multiple discount codes to my conference registration purchase?

A: Only one discount code per registration is allowed. These codes are not valid on prior purchases, and may not be combined with other discount offers. 


What airports are near the Hyatt Regency Chicago?

A:  Chicago O’Hare International Airport is approximately 19 miles from the Hyatt Regency and the hotel can be accessed by the CTA Blue Line from O’Hare: exit at the Washington stop. 

Midway International Airport is approximately 13 miles from the Hyatt Regency and the hotel can be accessed by the CTA Orange Line from Midway: exit at the State/Lake stop.

Taxis are also readily available at either airport.

Is there shuttle service available?

A: Our headquarters hotels do not offer complimentary shuttle service, but the Go Airport Express Shuttle is available on request for around $35 each way.


Will there be free Wi-Fi in the guest rooms?

A:  Attendees who stay at the headquarters hotel, Hyatt Regency Chicago, will receive complimentary Wi-Fi in their guest rooms.

Will there be free Wi-Fi in the Convention Center?

A: Complimentary Wi-Fi will be available in public spaces in the Convention Center and APICS will have a designated hotspot.

What is the dress code for the conference?

A: The APICS 2018 conference is business casual.


What is on the menu?

A: Light hors d’oeuvres for both the opening and closing receptions, along with buffet style (Sunday and Monday) and plated (Tuesday) lunches. While menu selections will not be finalized until just prior to the conference, our planning team strives to provide a range of diverse options in the food and beverage service. If you have specific dietary requirements, please note them when prompted during the registration process.

Will breakfast be served?

A: Breakfast is not provided, although there are several food and beverage options at the hotels and Convention Center. Coffee will be available before the 8:15 a.m. educational sessions Sunday through Tuesday. 

Educational Sessions

Will I receive a certificate for attending a session?

A: Attendees can earn the APICS S&OP Education Certificate or the APICS Risk Management Education Certificate by attending the qualifying sessions noted in the program and the S&OP or Risk Management preconference seminars. Learn more at apics.org/risk and apics.org/sop.

Does attending the conference grant me professional development points?

A: Yes, attendees will earn professional development points that qualify towards the maintenance of APICS CPIM, CFPIM, CSCP or CLTD designations.

Will I receive a printed letter?

A: Upon request, attendees are provided a letter of attendance for certification maintenance tracking; no other certificates are provided for attendance at the conference.

When will the presentations from the presenters be available?

A: Subject to availability, the conference presentations are included in the mobile app. They will be added to the mobile app a few weeks before conference. They can be found under the description of each educational session. They will also be added to apics.org after the conference.

Facility Tours

Do I need to attend the conference to register for a facility tour?

A: Yes, facility tours are open to APICS 2018 attendees only.

Can my spouse attend a facility tour?

A: Yes, but only if he/she is a registered guest of APICS 2018 and is registered for the facility tour.

Can I find a substitute if I cannot attend?

A: Facility tour substitutions are allowed through August 31, 2018. No substitutions will be granted after this date.

May I register for a facility tour as a one-day conference attendee?

A: Yes, but only if the conference day you are registered for is the same day as the facility tour you wish to attend.

What is the dress code for facility tours?

A: Conference attire is appropriate. Closed-toed shoes must be worn on all tours. Facility tour attendees will receive an email prior to the conference if a facility tour requires specific attire.

Will I need to bring special documentation to attend?

A: Facility tour attendees need to bring a valid ID.

Will breakfast/lunch/snacks be served?

A: Meals will not be provided during the facility tours.

Can I switch my tour onsite?

A: No. Advance registration is required for all facility tours. Visit apicsconference.org/facilitytours to sign up before the conference.

Cancellation, Substitution and Refund Policy

How do I cancel my registration?

A:  Requests for cancellation of registration must be made in writing via email to apics_registration@goeshow.com  or via mail to 5 Executive Court, Suite 2, South Barrington, IL 60010, on or before August 17, 2018.  A $100 processing fee will be applied to all refund requests made by August 17, 2018.

Refunds will not be given for a failure to attend, late arrival, unattended events, or early departures.  No refunds will be allowed after August 17, 2018.

I can no longer attend; can I send someone in my place?

A:  Registrants unable to attend may send a substitute.  If the Substitute is not a member, the non-member fee will be required.  Substitutions must be made in writing via email to apics_registration@goeshow.com or via mail to 5 Executive Court, Suite 2, South Barrington, IL 60010, on or before August 31, 2018.  A $100 processing fee will be applied to all substitution requests.  Processing fee is due at the time of substitution.

Attendee Packet

Will I receive my attendee packet by mail?

A: Attendees will receive their registration confirmation electronically. Badges can be picked up onsite at check-in time.

Where can I get ribbons for my designations?

A: Certification ribbons will be available at the APICS booth in the Exhibit Hall for qualified individuals.

Keynote Speakers

What time are the keynote presentations?

A: 9:30–11:00 a.m. on Sunday and Monday.

Special Needs

Is there wheelchair accessibility throughout the venue?

A: Yes. The conference sessions will take place in a venue that accommodates wheelchairs. The hotel has accessible rooms available for attendees. Please contact Hyatt Regency Chicago for assistance.

The App

Where can I download the app?

A: The app will be released over the summer, and available from the App Store, Google Play, and BlackBerry World. It can be used on mobile phones and tablets.
